Many safes can be powered from outside for long enough to open them, or have an emergency key; a photo of the front of the safe tells us which kind you have. ### The only person who knew the code is no longer around. This comes up with family businesses and with inherited houses. Whoever now has the right to the contents authorises the opening, with the documents to show it, and the safe gets a new code or lock afterwards. ### The code is accepted but the handle will not move. Something is pressing on the bolts: the door has dropped, or the contents are jammed against it. Forcing the handle makes it worse, so stop and tell us exactly what it is doing. ### Can the safe be used again after it has been opened? Nearly always. Methods that leave it working come first.
